Frank Van Der Putten was born in Aalst, Belgium on June 11, 1963. He received the electro-technical engineering degree from the Ghent University (Belgium) in 1986. He received a post-graduate business management degree from the Leuven University (Belgium) in 1991. He joined the Alcatel Research Centre in 1998 and worked on audio-video compression techniques, multimedia services and broadband access networking. Since 1994, he has taken leadership roles in standards bodies as DAVIC and ATIS T1E1. Today, he is associate rapporteur for DSL and Home Networking in the ITU-T SG15. He serves on the Broadband Forum Board of Directors, and is vice-chair of the Broadband Forum Technical Committee. He received several awards from these organizations for his contributions, including the Broadband Forum Distinguished Fellow award in 2009. Within Alcatel-Lucent, today he is responsible for standardization and regulatory affairs in the fixed access product division. He is the Corporate Technical Standard Manager for wired access, company delegation leader for ITU-T SG15 and the Broadband Forum. He is member of the Alcatel-Lucent Technical Academy, was nominated Alcatel Fellow in 2002, and nominated Bell Labs Fellow in 2010.
